"Italian food should only ever be eaten in front of people you never intend to have sex with" ...

An easy and funny read. But: to my knowledge, 4 people do not necessarily make a "club"...

As it is real chick-lit, I think a lot of bookcrosser will want to read this book! ;-)

I'm going to make a bookray out of this one. The following bookcrossers take part in this bookray:

"BOKWORMY" from Lisbon, Portugal - worldwide
"LadyKnightNiko" from Hamilton, Ohio, USA - worldwide
"C3" from Calgary, Alberta, Canada - worldwide
"R2" from Calgary, Alberta Canada - worldwide
"JerrilynnL" from Denver, Colorado, USA - worldwide
"penelopewanders" from Hasliberg, Bern / Berne, Switzerland (Europe pref.)

I enjoyed reading this book, after a few pages couldn´t manage to put it down. A realistic plot, about everyday life...love triangle, like they say a very expensive price to pay to join such a club :)

On the way to LadyKnightNiko in the USA!

Journal Entry 7 by LadyKnightNiko from Liberty Township, Ohio USA on Saturday, May 12, 2007
So sorry this has taken me so long to journal! It arrived thursday evening, but I've spent the week bedridden with illness. =( But alas, I am on the mend, and will start this as soon as I finish Catcher in the Rye.

Journal Entry 8 by LadyKnightNiko from Liberty Township, Ohio USA on Thursday, May 17, 2007
This wasn't the best book I've read so far this month, but by the end I really had grown to care about the characters. Thank you so much book-man-8 for sharing this!

I have about 2 pages left, and I've copied down the next person's address. I'll get this in the mail tomorrow and on it's way to Canada!

This arrived in the mail yesterday. I have one book to finish before starting it (I hope to start it tomorrow). Thanks for including me in this bookring.

ps - don't worry about the tape - we often over tape our packages just in case.

Journal Entry 11 by C3 from Calgary, Alberta Canada on Saturday, June 9, 2007
This book was good, but not as good as I thought it would be. Some of the jokes were old and the plot line dragged a bit at times, but overall I am glad that I signed up for it.

R2 is reading the book now (somehow I managed to convince him to read what he would call "chick lit"). We hope to have it sent off by the end of the week.

Journal Entry 12 by R2 from Calgary, Alberta Canada on Monday, June 25, 2007
It took a little longer to finish than C3 thought because although she conviced me to read should could not convice me that it would be fine to read this book on my breaks at work. I enjoyed how two people would see the same event so differently, but belive that the other saw it as they did. Maybe I have been married too long, but I kept thinking that if they just sat down and talked now and then that they would not have had the problems they did.

Arrived in today's mail. Looking forward to reading it...

Journal Entry 15 by wingJerrilynnLwing from Denver, Colorado USA on Wednesday, August 29, 2007
Interesting book - a little too neatly wrapped up in the end. Also thought that the author borrowed a bit too much from those "things kids do" and other funny story emails ("the son of a..." math homework; the bikini wax story, etc). I've read those things all before... But otherwise amusing, heartbreaking and ... well, interesting.

Sent for penelopewanders' address, then off it goes to Switzerland.

Air mail to Switzerland ...

Journal Entry 17 by wingpenelopewanderswing from Saint-Loup-des Vignes, Centre France on Friday, September 7, 2007
This arrived safely in the Swiss alps today, thank you so much! It will go to the back of the line - a few other rings are already queuing (sp?) up just now and most of my reading this week has to be work-related, so this one will have to wait its turn. Should be fun once I get to it though. Thanks for making it available - looks like I'm at the end of the ray? :) Takes the pressure off (if I'm mistaken, please let me know!), but I'll probably do what I've done with all the other rays which ended with me, that is, offer them up for continued adventures.

Journal Entry 18 by wingpenelopewanderswing from Saint-Loup-des Vignes, Centre France on Monday, September 24, 2007
I deliberately didn't read all the comments so as not to spoil the suspense, so I wasn't really sure what I was getting myself into. I expected a bit of fluff and was surprised by how thought-provoking I found this. I particularly relished the way the situations were perceived by the different characters and from the different points of view, sometimes mirror images, sometimes more like distorted fun house mirrors, often using the same phrasing and metaphors to describe something.
I have to admit I felt a bit disappointed by the choice Mal made in the end (although the book would suggest there was no choice)... without wanting to spoil this for anyone, it seems to me her other option was a more wonderful person... But this is not the first time I observe a "Marriage Conquers All" attitude in this type of literature.

Thanks so much for making it available. As I just spent ten minutes telling a colleague about the book, I think I'll lend it to her, seeing as I seem to be at the end of the ray (right?)

RELEASE NOTES:

I've lent this book to a brand new bookcrosser - she's heard me talking about BC for a couple of years now, and she's finally signed up. Hopefully she'll enjoy the book - and bookcrossing!

I especially enjoyed the three viewpoints of the same sequence but thought it all turned out a little too neat for Nick, who really didn't deserve it.

Travelling to kitten99! Sorry, I don't have a chance to write a proper journal entry, but will definitely do that later!

ETA 05 May 2008: a nice chick-lit!It's always enjoyable as you always know that the things will get back the way you wish (though in this case it could have been satisfactory either way). I also like those true-life stories full of today's details and true people (sometimes even similar to those you even know). I found the book erotic too,and having read it on my journeys to work I even found myself blushing a bit when imagining other people glancing at my page :)

Journal Entry 25 by kitten99 from Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear United Kingdom on Saturday, February 16, 2008

Apologies for holding on to this for so long!

I really enjoyed this book - couldn't put it down. I was glad it showed the true-life problems that adultery brings, at the start I was worried Nick was simply going to get away with it all or move into his lover's flat and live happily ever after.

As others have already pointed out, definitely a thought-provoking read.

This was sent on it's way to iliotropio today, so hopefully it'll there soon. Thanks to penelopewanders for offering it up for this bookring.

Arrived this morning!
I have another ring to read before this one but I'll try to be quick... why all the rings/rays arrive within a small period of time??

UPDATE 25/05: I've started reading the book, should be a quick read so I'll pm right away the next participant of the ray.

Journal Entry 39 by wingcarelaisawing from Québec, Québec Canada on Thursday, May 28, 2009
An average chicklit, treating of a common subject in this type of novel but still quite entertaining and fun! It’s also a quick read and I think the ending is quite predictable but it's fun to see how the characters will get out of the mess they’ve created.

I have pm'ed princess-peapod but she asked to be skipped, so the book will be sent to the next BCer, NMReader.

EDIT: the book has been mailed as of today, May 29th.

I thought an update would be appreciated. I am behind on rings/rays. I have started the book but this is the busy time at work. Based on work load etc, I am estimating completing by the end of the month.

Journal Entry 42 by NMReader from Herndon, Virginia USA on Monday, July 27, 2009
I know people worry when books aren't moving like they should so I thought I should provided another update. I am a little over halfway through the book. I am enjoying it and also not enjoying it (having lived through parts of it myself - I really can relate to Malinche).

I think the end of the month is still an accurate estimate of completion. I have pm-d ariesgirl29 and have recently emailed her for her address.

Journal Entry 43 by NMReader from Herndon, Virginia USA on Monday, August 3, 2009
I like how the author personalized internet jokes by including them in the book. While the jokes are funny in the form we normally see them they have more zest when we have developed a relationship with the character. I think while one or two would have been interesting, there were too many.

The author did a fabulous job with Maliniche's character and her thoughts. I could relate to her and her feelings very well. I could also almost sympathize with Sara - she didn't realize that she would fall in love and ruin the marriage at the start. I'll be honest I do not like and have no sympathy for Nicolas. Of all the characters, he is the most to blame (he cheated and lied and hurt his children, his wife, his mistress, his parents, etc).

Without spoiling the book I am not sure how to comment on the ending.
