I read this book in college as part of a class on young adult literature. Betsy Byars is a wonderful author to read and just enjoy. This book is about a broken family, but with warmth and humor the author reveals how bad times, as well as good times, can keep a family together. (This is a Junior Literacy Guild Selection, chosen as an outstanding book for older readers.
