Blurb on back cover says:
"Jean Le Viste, a fifteenth-century nobleman close to the King, hires an artist to design six tapestries celebrating his rising status at Court. Nicolas des Innocents overcomes his surprise at being offered this commission when he catches sight of his patron's daughter, Claude. His pursuit of her pulls him into the web of fragile relationships between husband and wife, parents and children, lovers and servants....
In Brussels, renowned weaver Georges de la Chapelle takes on the biggest challenge of his career. Never before has he attempted a work that puts so much at stake. Sucked into a world of temptation and seduction, he and his family are consumed by the project and by their dealings with the rogue painter from Paris. The results changed all their lives."
Read this in one sitting - great book and the cover illustrations are magnificent - I certainly appreciate the work of the weaver more from those bygone days (I had no idea the work was so meticulous although obvious when you stop to think about it!) Had a liking for Nicolas as well for his sheer audacity;-)

I've tried to select a book that I thought you would like and noticed that this was on your Wishlist. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Happy reading:-)

I love historical books and Tracy Chevalier is my favorite author! Thank you a lot! I will save this for my vocation reading :o)
Have a nice spring!
Have a nice spring!
Alejanda gave this to me while visiting in Pori. I'll read and then return it back to Alejanda. Thanks!
Tracy Chevalier is a great writer! This book convinced it again. Her storytelling is so vivid and captivating and I totally lost myself into this book. Again I had thoughts that too bad I have to work and be social, when all I wanted to do is read, read, read.
The story told from several points of view works well. It is interesting to see how everyone else sees for example Nicolas des Innocents. Like how arrogant he is but in the beginning shows insecureness.
I find myself looking at the tapestries in the book of course during the reading but also a long after I had finished. It would be nice to see the tapestries in the Cluny Museum for real.
Thank you Alejanda so much for offering this to me before you reading it yourself. I truly recommend this. It's a great book!
