Lost Laysen
5 journalers for this copy...
Have 2 copies of this one so I am ready to let one of them go. Not the best story in the whole wide world, but it is a must have for staunch Margaret Mitchell fans.

I took this book out of the Misc. Bookbox 2. Thanks, ramson.
This has been on my shelf for a long time; I'm glad I finally took it off. Half the book is about the young Margaret Mitchell and her friends, with some interesting information, and the rest is a short novella written by Mitchell when she was 16, but kept secretly by her old friend and then his family. All her other writings have apparently been destroyed. I should think that anyone who is a Margaret Mitchell fan would want to read this short book, and see the photographs from her early life.
Taken by someone at our BC meeting today.
Picked this up at our meetup yesterday. I'm a GWTW fan and a fan of southern writers. Did know of this one of Margaret Mitchell's which I look forward to reading at some point, when I can clear a bit of space to sit back and pick up a nice book. Thanks Kiptrix! And a thank you to ramson, to for sending this book on it's BookCrossing journey!
I must say, in all honesty, that the first half of this, with the glimpses into Margaret Mitchell's life, fascinated me. The novella afterwards was sort of anti-climatic, except for the fact that it was written by a fifteen year old. Having just participated in NaNoWriMo, where folks are encouraged to try and write a novel of 50,000 words in a month, I can appreciate what she came up with in less than thirty days.
I am going to put this in our bookbox of Hometown authors (books by and about authors in your region). Atlanta isn't that far, and Mitchell spent time in the mountains near here. Plus, Rhett was from Charleston! It's a stretch, but worth it!

We've been thinking up ways to help folks learn about Charleston and South Carolina, and came up with this: We offered a BookBox that we filled with books by South Carolina (and southern) authors and books about South Carolina. Those who signed on for the box will replace books they take with ones about their region or by a local author. Our goal is that by the time the box returns to us, it will be filled with books "from off" as they say here, that can hopefully be used in goodie bags etc for the 2007 Convention here in Charleston.
Enjoy! Hope to see you in Charleston in 2007!

I chose this from the Hometown Authors bookbox. I did not know that Margaret Mitchell had written another book, and am looking forward to reading this.
I finally took it off my shelf and began reading it last night. The first part weaves a biography of letters and photographs from two years of Margaret Mitchell's life as a girl and young woman during the latter years of World War I.
I haven't started the novella yet, but will be interested to see the work of a teenager who became one of America's most famous writers.
