Mike Gayle's book put me in a fighting mood, I don't know why. The cover quote is right: the book is full of acute observations and I enjoy the self deprecating humour, but I just don't get the whole "truly loves her but is a commitment phobic thing so suddenly there's a major personality change" and start to believe it's entirely made up plot device for romance novels. It was entertaining, but not as funny and I found it more difficult to understand the character's motives than with some of the others I read.

I fully agree with verenka's point of view. Why do the main characters behave so stragely??? Especially when she is pregnant, she should be glad, that he wants her back, but we have to read further 100 pages, in which he pretends to come up with a clever plan, which I don't find that clever. (Especially as IKEA furniture is not that difficult to build together...)
It is an easy read and better than some other chick lits I have read, however it doesn't bring any new and intersting arguments.
