A relatively light weight easy historical fiction read. It is about Mary Boleyn (Anne Boleyn's sister) trying to stay alive and escape the intrigue of Henry VIII court. You cannot help but feel sympathy for all the people invovled as survival is so completely based on the whims of a few men.

I found the book on a #3 bus headed downtown and I'm hoping to read it and release it into the wild. :)

While visiting friends in Toronto and Mississagua over Christmas (Dec'09), a friend passed the book along to me. I took it home to Regina, SK. Canada where it sat in my 'to read' pile for a number of weeks. I took it with me on vacation to Phoenix, AZ in mid Feb '10. I finished the book while enjoying the sunshine by the pool and passed it along to another friend. It was the first time I read this author and can hardly wait to read more novels by Phillipa Gregory.

I was in Scottsdale, AZ with a friend who finished the book while we enjoyed the sun and the pool and she passed it onto me. I was surprised at how intrigued I was and couldn't wait to read each day.

I didn't get to finish it while on my trip so it made the trip back to Regina, SK, Canada with me. I finished it on the flight home and plan to pass it on to my neighbor.

The book is very well written with enough actual history to make me want to know more. Thank goodness I don't live in those times with an ambitious father who uses his daughters to get ahead. Enlightening.
