I love this book!

Hoffman's characters are not the kind the reader forgets once the book is closed. This story touches deeply - pain, love, loss, forgiveness, growth. Some bits of "magic" finely interwoven with "reality"- and isn't that the way life truly is? Love is beautiful, but at times it is painful and ugly. Hoffman isn't afraid to show us that ugliness, or the breathtaking beauty of it.

An outstanding book from an amazing writer!

You are so right about this book.....wow! I'm not even sure what to say about this breathtakingly beautiful story! My only complaint is that I read it much too quickly, but I honestly didn't want to put it down.

I love this book! It's a very nice and meaningful little book about melting away your reserve towards other people and daring to get attached to people and things. Hoffman's style of writing is very beautiful, I love the way she describes the characters and tells the story though I must admit I can't really think of a description other than 'beautiful' or 'symbolical'. Either way, despite its flaws (there is a plot twist she just can't get away with in my opinion), it's an enthralling story and I couldn't quite put it down. Too bad it's such a short book, I would've loved to read more. But maybe that would've spoiled it, if there had been more detail and background and whatnot. I think the strength of this book is the fact that it can evoke a whole world and tell the whole story with very few words and you're not left wondering too much about the characters after you finished it, it all ties up nicely.
