I have to say that this is a very unusal book.
MJD's "Witch Way" was not too bad. It's about a witch and a witch-hunter which is a nice change from her vampire series. It is a bit slow but the total story is worth the read. It was really quick.
Catherine Spangler's "Street Corner's and Halos" is an interesting twist on the good and evil, namely Angel and Vampire. The story is very sexual and I loved the ending. Another quick read and worth it.
Emma Holly's "The Demon's Angel" is a "Whoa Baby" story. Very, very sexual but highly interesting and I would love to see the author write an entire full length novel on this shorty. Nice fantasy setting makes for a really great read.
Vickie Taylor's "Angel and the Hellraiser" is a really great story. Action packed with plenty of emotion. I really loved the ending.

off to KatCurtis. Enjoy!

Received in the mail today. I am looking forward to diving into this one. It looks really yummy!! Thanks Terry!!!

I am really glad I got to read this one, but I did not think it was as good as most of the authors usually are. I love Emma Holly, but something about the story I did not care for. I also really like MaryJanice Davidson, but while her short stories are okay they are too short. The story here would have been super if it was longer. I think it would be a great new series. I have never read a Catherine Spangler story before but I will definitely be on the lookout for her books in the future as I LOVED her story in this collection. And even though I cannot exactly put my finger on why-I did not like Vickie Taylor's story here. Still, this book was worth checking out--and I did get to experience a great new author.
Put on reserve for pammykn. I will send this off to her as soon as I get her address info.

Sent off at the post office earlier today--April 11, 2007. Traveling to pammykn. Enjoy!!

Thanks, rec'd today -- look forward to reading!

Thanks for letting me read this one. I liked the last story the best -- Angel & the Hellraiser by Vickie Taylor. Will mail off to MaplesFlowers Wednesday 05/09/07.

Rec'd the book today. I have a couple in front of it, but I'll try to get to it as quickly as possible. Thanks for sharing it!!

Arrived safe and sound in Colorado today!! I will finish up the book I am in the middle of, and then start this one!

Finished the book this morning. It was ok. Out of the four stories, I liked the first one (Witch Way) the best. The others just didn't grab nearly as much.
I will leave the Grand Ol Opry postcard in the book, and add a "Get out of Hell Free" card, because, really it seems appropriate for this book :)
I have CheriePie's addy and will be sending this off in the AM.
and Happy 4th!! to the USA folks out there!!!

This arrived with me today. I've a lot of other owed stuff before it, but what I'll do is read a story here and there in between my other reads. Thanks for including me. :)

I finished up reading this the other day. I will get my review written and then get this off to wyvernfriend in Ireland shortly.

Witch Way by MaryJanice Davidson
My Rating: 2 stars
Stupid, stupid, stupid!! And completely unrealistic to boot. The author writes about Salem, MA as if it's some theoretical place where Witches are still hunted to this day when that couldn't be farther from the truth. It's actually more of Witch Central now. If you want to write about witch hunters, look to the southern states where there's still a lot of ignorance and fundamentalism. For some reason, this just didn't read like MJD's usual stuff... it was just blah for me.
Street Corners and Halos by Catherine Spangler
My Rating: 5 stars
This one was a bit better than MJD's story, and at least held my interest, even if it was a bit corny and cliche at times.
The Demon's Angel by Emma Holly
My Rating: 6 stars
A little different from what I'm used to from Emma Holly. The genetic mutation part was a bit freaky... the sex was a bit tame, but there was a bit more to it than just a romance so I tended to like it a little bit. :-)
Angel and the Hellraiser by Vickie Taylor
My Rating: 5 stars
For my first intro to this author, I found her story fairly well written and interesting enough. Though a bit too romancey for my tastes to make me want to hunt down other works by this author.
So to average it all out, I give this entire anthology a 5, since at least a couple of the stories made it worth reading. :)

Mailed to wyvernfriend on 11/7/07 via USPS International First Class. Hate our postage rates now: US $8.80 to send a single trade paperback overseas. *pout* Bad PO!

That was a very mixed read.
The first, Witch Way, was by Mary Janice Davidson, nothing incredible. A witch and a witchhunter meet, their families have been killing each other for years, will these two follow in their families footsteps. Will they kill each other? Guess and you won't be far off the mark.
Street Corners and Halos by Catherine Spangler, an angel meets a vampire hooker and tries to change her life. Pretty predictable, readable though.
Emma Holly in The Demon's Angel, writes about a demon world and a scientist who kidnaps a regular human to experiment on. She finds herself in love with him and her world and assumptions have to change. I enjoyed this one.
Vickie Taylor's Angel and the Hellraiser was another story that was okay, Zane has been eluding death for a while but it's about to catch up with him and he has nowhere to go. Rosemary is an angel who falls in love with him and finds herself changed by the experience.
They're interesting stories, the worst of the pile is the MJD one but I would try more by the other authors. They showed promise.

Candydarling wanted to be skipped so I'm passing it on to Bookworm-lady, it went in the post today.

I picked it up from the post office yesterday.
It looks very ibteresting, thanks for sharing!
And thanks for the good wishes, Wyvernfriend.
Merry Christmas to you too!

Well, this is a completely new genre for me...
Male angels with strong sexual drives, vampires... and the lot. Wow!
My favourite was "Witch Way", definitely. Very funny, I loved the twist of the witch being male...
I kept reading the rest until the end, which was lucky, because "Angel and the Hellraiser" gets better towards the end...
I am asking for Dodau's address, but even though Sterile has offered to send it to me, I am not happy. She should show some interest, right?
Maybe we should just skip her...
Anyway, it was fun... Thanks for sharing!
(And thank you for your little note, Wyvernfried...)

This arrived today just as I'm about to leave on holiday. Although it will delay things a bit, I'll feel more comfortable NOT taking it with me, but promise to read and send it on early August. I'm just worried about what shape it would be in after a few weeks of travelling around Asia (lucky me!). I hope you don't mind, I think it will be a quick read once I'm back. Shall I try to contact Dodau next or should she just be skipped?
all the best - hope you all have super summers..

This was a quick, enjoyable read. As is the case of all anthologies, some stories are better than others. I liked the Emma Holly and the Catherine Spangler best, I think...
I'm sorry this had to wait so long here but I thought it was better not to take it with me on my trip. I'm PMing for the next address.

As Joasik asked to be skipped, this ring is now on its way to Needsun in Canada. I've sent it slow post, so it should take two to three weeks. Thanks so much for making this book available.

Arrived today. Thanks for sending it my way.

Not too bad really. I needed something like this to unwind at night after a busy busy day. The stories certainly didn't tax my brain and even if I only read two or three pages at a time, nothing seemed to get lost.
Thank you for letting me part of this ring. I just PMed Lemonitsa for her address.

Arrived today! yay!! this looks good and I'll be getting into it real soon. :)

So, 'real soon' took a few months.... but now this is ready to go to redhot-brat.
I thought I would enjoy this anthology much more than I did. I guess it went downhill after reading MJD's story. Where it had potential to be very interesting, it just came up dumb. I don't know what it is with her stories... she always makes the women flighty or dumb or childish or... she tries too hard to be funny and ends up being unfunny to me :/

Ok - Well this actually arrived awhile ago. It slipped off my desk and wedge itself between it and the wall. It could've stayed hiding there for ages on end, but sweet Lemonitsa called it to my attention that it had to be at my house somewhere as I already JE the book it arrived packaged with.
Good thing too ..... So it is now safe & sound.....and located again. I will start reading it this afternoon and get it moved along again shortly. Sorry for the delay, and THanks for sharing it with me. :D

First of all, my apologies for having this book so long. My daughter re-did my bookcases, and a few bookcrossing books got mixed in with my personal ones. Unfortunately, this was one of them. Found it, read it, and really enjoyed the four short stories. Fast, entertaining reads. Sending on asap! Sorry again,
Ruth
