Wonderful story of the power of women's friendship during the depression/drought era in the midwest. The book caused this reader to feel deeply the value of her friends plus want to learn to quilt.
I went out hunting specifically for this book...the description by "suzannekt" made me have to find it. I am looking forward to reading it and then sharing it with others.
I found this an interesting account of life in the 1930's, the struggles of the times, but most importantly the deep friendships that developed among the women.

I've just received the Already Been BookCrossed Book Box, and I've chosen this book to read and release. I'm glad you put this one in, llama-mama205. :-)
I really enjoyed this book. Queenie Bean, the narrator, is a very likable and admirable character, as is her husband. And I found myself cringing as I read the account of how two women were accosted on the road at night. Learned a little bit about quilting, too. Recommended.
I am going to send this book back to suzannekt, the original journaler, who needs it now for her book group.
