This is the first book in the Black Magician Triology.
This is a nice and exiting fantasy novel taking place in a country "Ruled" by an elite class of magicians, called the Guild. The Guild usually only recruit from the upper classes of society, but when a poor girl manages to breach their powerfull shield during the yearly Purge, the hunt begins to find her. But when they do, should they block her powers or accept her into the guild?
Personally i liked this series. I borrowed the last two books from a friend, so i thought i'd release it, rather than let it stand alone in my bookshelf.

Very happy to find this, as I've been meaning to check out Trudi Canavan's writing for some time.
VERY worthwhile. Only problem is now I'll have to buy volume 2 and 3 of the trilogy, as I don't have this thing called patience that people keep talking about. Never mind.
Canavan has created a fairly engaging setting for a very engaging heroine. There's just the right mix of intrigue, magic and "everyday detail" to make this highly readable. I'm all agog to see what happens next.

I`m not very much into science fiction and fantasy (yet), but I`ll give this book a try...
Thank you very much, ragsrobin!!! :)
