Eden Close
13 journalers for this copy...
Picked this one up from the local charity shop yesterday.
I picked up this Anita Shreve on recommendations from other people, that she was such a good writer. I have to say that I did agree with this and I am looking forward to reading more of her work.
Synopsis reads:
"When Andrew returns to his hometown in upstate New York for his mother's funeral, he does not intend to stay. But dreams and memories of seventeen years ago persist, and in the darkened farmhouse he relives that hot, bloody night when Eden Close was blinded - by the same gun that killed her father.
Eden and Andrew had been childhood companions - smoking, fishing, skating and fighting - until the day the tomboy turned temptress. Now Andrew is drawn again to this lost, blind girl of his youth, drawn to save her from the cruel neglect she has endured for seventeen sightless years without him. But first he must discover the grisly truth about that night..."
I am setting this book up as a bookring.

Travel well little book.
This book is ready to start it's journey as a bookring book, so here goes........
Please make a journal entry as soon as you recieve the book and also when you send it to the next person. Then we know where the book is!
When you are nearly finished with the book please PM the next person on the list and ask for their address so you can send it on to them!
Also let us know what you thought of the book but don't give too much away!
Lastly if you have nicer bookcrossing labels or stickers then decorate the book a little! Also stick a postcard from your country in with a message! Could be fun: ) I am going to gauge that this will arrive with the first recipient on 1st March'ish. Therefore...I am releasing it for
World book day.
Received this a few days ago, looking forward to reading it. Thank you for sharing Pinkagirl :-)
Really really enjoyed this, I had no idea what it was about - initially thought Eden Close was a road name not a person!
A little disturbing at times, a totally different slant to the usual books on child abuse/neglect. There were several things which came out later about Eden which I had guessed much earlier in the book and was quite pleased with myself that I got them right as they were very well hidden!
Have pm'd Etripney for address. Thanks Pinkagirl for sharing!
sorry did not log when this book arrived as i was in the middle of moving house and had no internet.
Fantastic book really enjoyable. Great story and very descriptive and thought provoking.
Will email next on list and sennd it on.
I received this book yesterday, waiting to have this new reading experience by Shreve :) Thanks for starting this bookring, Pinkagirl and for posting, etripney!
The beginning of the book was too slow for me and I had difficulties in concentrating. Later the story was getting more and more intensive, and I enjoyed it a lot, although the themes were pretty hard. The character of Andrew was a lovable one. I have already the address of Bokwormy, and I''ll post the book this week. Thanks!

I enjoyed it very much. The Plot was well written. I thought somebody else had committed the crime so I would have to say I found the end unpredictable.

RELEASE NOTES:
On the way to Dg7500 in the USA!
WOW, now that was a speedy delivery....a week from Portugal to the US...and it was a holiday weekend here in the States as well! Shame much of our 'internal mailing' doesn't work quite that well! {g}
I have another book to finish before this, but hope start reading by the weekend.
Another solid book by Shreve. No real surprises here for me, as I had a pretty good idea where Shreve was going with the story, but I still enjoyed the book a great deal.
I have Missprisy's mailing info, and will be passing this along to her within the next few days. Thanks, Pinkagirl, for allowing me to take part in your bookring.

RELEASE NOTES:
Winging it's way to Missprisy.
Arrived today, I will read soon, I have two others before this one.
I loved this book! Read it in just a couple sittings. I have to say the end was a bit of a surprise, but this is why I love Anita Shreve's books! I already have JerrilynnL's mailing address and will get this in the mail this week.
Release #65 for
Guinaveve's Keep Them Moving 2007 Challenge.
*Mailed to JerrilynnL 10/10/07
Arrived in today's mail. Looking forward to reading! :-)
I am throwing in the towel. I have a good stack of bookring books and the new-found ability to fall asleep within several pages (makes it very hard to get through a book in a normal amount of time, plus you should see the huge stack of magazines...). So to start anew with the new year and not be such a bad bookcrosser, I am sending this on unread to the next person on the list. Sorry for the huge delay! I will try to get it out to the post office in the next several days. It's a bummer because it looks good but I'll put it on my wish list and read it later (maybe in 18 years when I catch up on sleep). :-)
This is headed to LisaBB2 in IA next ...

off to Lisabb2
Just got in the mail today...can't wait to read it!!!
Very good read by Anita Shreve!!! I never really had this one figured out all the way so the ending was a bit of a surprise. This will be on it's way to Flakes once I get her mailing info.
Arrived safe and sound. I'll start reading this one this weekend! Thanks so much for sharing!:)
**2/28: have not heard back from Nojokeva, so I've PM'd discoverylover for an address!
Recieved today! Thanks Pinka for starting the ring and Flakes for passing it on! Will start reading tomorrow (approx), I've got about 100 pages left on the books I want to finish first.
Wow. What an amazing book! After rereading the first few pages a few times I finally got into the flow of the story and was hooked from there on in! As I was disappointed by the last book I read by Anita Shreve its good to know that it was probably just that book, and that she is still worth reading more of! A FANTASTIC story!!
I've pmailed Joanazinha and will get it off to her as soon as possible :D

RELEASE NOTES:
Sent to Joanazinha today. Should arrive in 10-25 working days :)
The book arrived today, accompanied by another Anita Shreve novel. Thank you so very much, discoverylover!
The book had to wait until I'd finished some other ringbooks. But yesterday I've read this beautiful book in one sitting! I enjoyed it very much; although the themes were difficult. I hadn't predicted the end of the book, so it took me by surprise, but all pieces fell together.
I loved the character of Andy and how he managed to 'free' Eden.
I will PM Pinkagirl for her address so the book can return home.
Edit May 16: the book is on its way home now to Pinkagirl. Thanks again for making this beautiful book a bookring; I enjoyed it very much.
This book made it home in one piece, while I was away on my holiday's. Thanks for its speedy return Joanzinha. I look forward to finding a suitable releasing place for this well traveled book sometime soon.

Found this book on a shelf in Decathlon Sports Store whilst waiting an eternity for my brother to buy a bike. Intrigued by the idea of a travelling book. Enjoyed it very much. Have read quite a few of Shreve's novels but not this one so it was a good find. Thankyou Pinkagirl.
