"About three things I was certain. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him - and I didn't know how dominant that part might be - that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him."

This is the best book I've read in a long time. I picked it up before going to bed with plans to read a chapter or two and the next thing I knew, it was 4:30 in the morning and I was 300 pages in! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes books about the paranormal. If you liked "Twilight," visit the author's Web site, www.stepheniemeyer.com, and she has reposted the first chapter, but from Edward's point of view. It's very good and definitely read the sequel to "Twilight," "New Moon." The third book in the series, "Eclipse" is due to be released August 2007.
Anyway, here's what the publisher has to say about "Twilight:"

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balance precariously on the point of a knife -- between desire and danger.
Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

Bad day, so this was a really nice surprise to find in my mailbox today. I'm looking forward to reading it. This week is really crazy for me, since it is my last at my job of 12 years. After everything calms down a little, it shouldn't take long to read this interesting-looking book.
Thanks for sharing!

Journal Entry 5 by macewoman from Winston Salem, North Carolina USA on Saturday, February 17, 2007
I was so engrossed while reading this book that people spoke to me and I didn't hear them. Now I can usually tune conversations out, but it's rare that I don't even hear them.
This is a truly unique perspective on the vampire story. Bella's reactions are so real that you have no trouble believing them and even understanding them. She's willing to risk her life for love, much to Edward's chagrin.
Rarely do I race to the bookstore for the next installment in a series, but I will have the next book as soon as I can find it. I might go ahead and buy my own copy of "Twilight".
Thank you, thank you, thank you, moonbeam056, for keeping this ray going and introducing me to a wonderful writer.
I have LAbklvr's address, so as soon as I can dig it out of the boxes from the office I'll mail it on.

Journal Entry 6 by macewoman from Winston Salem, North Carolina USA on Friday, February 23, 2007

Have finish another book first, but I'll be starting this one soon. Thanks!

Journal Entry 8 by LAbklvr from Lady Lake, Florida USA on Thursday, March 29, 2007
I’m lovin’ it, lovin’ it. I read almost half of the thing last night and pretty much ignored my boyfriend the whole time. The character of Bella is so well done, I laughed out loud a couple of times because I could definitely relate at that age, although I don't remember any sexy vampire boyfriends.
This book was wide open for the sequel and I'm
already looking forward to the second book in this series.
I'm going to go ahead and get the address for the next person in line since I'm pretty sure I'll be done with this one in the next day or two. Thanks Moonbeam.
On its way to NeedSun Monday.

Journal Entry 9 by NeedSun from Perth Road, Ontario Canada on Thursday, April 12, 2007

Journal Entry 13 by nightraine56 from St. Louis, Missouri USA on Thursday, May 24, 2007
What a great book! Thanks moonbeam056 for sharing this. I am so glad to have read it. The characters were wonderful and the description of Edward by Bella was fantastic. This was a seductive read without sex since it is a young adult book and it was written so well for a first time author. I could not put the book down and I got this read much faster than I normally can read.I can't wait to read the next book.

It's on its way to pammykn in Florida. Enjoy because I sure did!

Journal Entry 14 by pammykn from Decatur, Alabama USA on Tuesday, May 29, 2007
Thanks, look forward to reading!

I rec'd this bookring today. I have a couple of Bookring books ahead of it but I'll try to read as quickly as possible to get it back on its travels. Thanks for sharing this book!

I wasn't sure if I would like this book, since it's more a YA book, but I truly did like it. I'll be looking to get the sequel. I'll be sending it on as soon as I know where to send it. :o)

Journal Entry 20 by vampirequeen from Coventry, West Midlands United Kingdom on Tuesday, February 26, 2008
Huge apoliges for the length of time I've had it! Finished it quite a while ago, and got Penelopewanders address (since Samulli wanted to be skipped) but it's just been sitting in my room, for at least a month now :S
But FINALLY got it to the Post Office today. And it is sent and on it's way to Switzerland!

About the book, was OK but deffinitly a teen book. Still, will have to read the next 2 in the series anyway. Esp now I've read the blur and what I suspected about Jacob(? think that's his name) is true, so me really likes now!
So cheers MoonBeam056 for raying this.

Looks like fun. Thanks so much for making it available.

Journal Entry 22 by wingpenelopewanderswing from Saint-Loup-des Vignes, Centre France on Saturday, March 22, 2008
Wow, I really loved this book - and while waiting for the post offices to open after the Easter break, my two teenagers are zooming through it as well, so we're all rehashing it with "what are you up to now??" discussions. (I hope that's ok, the binding was a bit worn when it arrived, but I've been watching them like a hawk and they are handling the book with kid gloves, using a bookmark at all times etc).
Perhaps because it was the first book of the holidays (which always is a winner) or perhaps it's the main character whose views of volleyball echoed mine (although I am a bit more competent when it comes to badmitton), but this was a delightful read. Thanks so much for making it available. Post offices should open Tuesday or Wednesday here in Mallorca (where Easter celebrations are taken very seriously...)so as soon as we can get into town next week, I'll be sending it off. I already have the address for the next in line. I see there's a sequel to this... is it a ring as well? Thanks so much for letting me discover this book and author.

'On its way to Germany' - and arrived in Norway today! LOL! A typo there, penelopewanders?? :-)

I found this book in my mailbox this afternoon. Looks fascinating, I'm really looking forward to reading this. I have a couple of ring books ahead of it but will get to it as soon as I can. Thank you for sharing, MoonBeam! I'll journal again when I've read the book.

Journal Entry 25 by wingLeishaCamdenwing from Alna bydel, Oslo fylke Norway on Monday, April 14, 2008
I started reading this book yesterday after finishing my previous bookring book on Saturday afternoon. Amazing coinkydink: On Saturday night I went to a friend's birthday party. Hadn't seen her for ages, literally months, probably a year. She started talking about a book series she's gotten hooked on, she said she loves them and she thought I would love them too, so she wanted to know if I'd heard about them. 'Twilight' by Stephenie Meyer ... !! :-D And I was literally going to start reading it the very next day. :-)

Now if I like this book as much as I think I will, I know where to go to borrow books 2 and 3 ... ;-)

So far I've only read the first two chapters, but it's definitely looking good ... :-)

Journal Entry 26 by wingLeishaCamdenwing from Alna bydel, Oslo fylke Norway on Monday, May 12, 2008
Oops! I finished this on April 25th, but I've been forgetting to journal it. I'm sorry!! Better late than never I hope! :-)

This was a good read, excellent proof of my theory that 'Young Adult' books are often as good or sometimes better as what is written for 'real' adult readers ... quite possibly because authors, when writing for an audience that is likely to be less set in its ways and with less definite expectations they can be freer with their creativity and imagination.

Although the book does 'show its origins' in that it's obvious it was written for younger readers, I had no problem with that, I think it's just a matter of knowing what you're in for. I thought the book was well written, pretty much believable (as far as a vampire story can be believable ;-), with an excellent setting, a well thought out plot and good characters. All in all a very enjoyable read.

I will definitely be asking my friend to lend me books two and three. ;-)

Thanks for sharing, MoonBeam - and again, I'm sorry for being so slow to journal.

I already have Haugtussa's address so I will get this in the mail to her this week.

Journal Entry 28 by wingHaugtussawing from Stavanger, Rogaland fylke Norway on Saturday, May 24, 2008
Ths book is in Stavanger. I'm really looking forward to read this book, both because I like vampires and due to the fact that this was the first bookray I ever signed up for. It will come up soon, as I have only One ring ahead of it!

Journal Entry 29 by wingHaugtussawing from Stavanger, Rogaland fylke Norway on Tuesday, June 3, 2008
An easy read and I really enjoyed it.

I was lucky enough to have a day or two in the sun, and this book was just perfect for lazing in a deck chair!

I liked the characters in the book, the setting worked fine & the book was just as believable as any Anne Rice novel.
As a teacher I'm always happy to get my hands on Young Adult Fiction, I need more authors to recommend to my students.
And like some of the previous readers have mentioned - I'm interested in the next two volumes, as I would love to see how things actually work out.

I'll get the book off as soon as I have BooksnBeer's address.

Journal Entry 30 by BooksnBeer from Pasadena, Florida USA on Tuesday, June 17, 2008
Just received this safe and sound. I have finished all my other rings and this is now top of the stack.

Journal Entry 31 by BooksnBeer from Pasadena, Florida USA on Thursday, June 26, 2008
I enjoyed this book. A quick easy read, with very thought-out characters. It reminded me of Harry Potter does Vampires. I am hooked and have to find the next books in the series.

My only negative comment is that Bella was starting to get a little on my nerves. She is portrayed a little too weak. I hope the next book we see a stronger Bella – maybe not in all ways – but, one particular gift/strength.

I have the next address and will be mailing this out tomorrow.

Journal Entry 32 by AngelfireStar from Falls City, Nebraska USA on Monday, August 18, 2008

Journal Entry 33 by RukiaThespian from Bemidji, Minnesota USA on Wednesday, October 8, 2008
This came for rebel-padawan today, she's off on a backpacking trip to the Appalacians-so I've been journaling the things that come for her. I just checked her mail today and there was A LOT of packages of books! Looks like a couple rings etc.
She will probably start journaling when she gets back on October 20. Just letting the ring owners/persons who sent the book that it arrived where it was going!

Although with this one I am uncertain, she was just given a copy of this book before she left-when I speak to her again, I will see what she wants me to do with this one~I may just send it to the next person in line.

Journal Entry 34 by RukiaThespian from Bemidji, Minnesota USA on Thursday, October 9, 2008
I've PM'd Msjoana and am waiting on an address. In the meantime I read this book, and it didn't take as long as I expected-only about three hours.

My initial thoughts going into this book were something of curiousity. I found it refreshing in the beginning, but as the book carried on...I found myself wanting more and more to throttle Bella.
I did get quite a few laughs along the way-like on page 106 when Bella referred to "scary" people as being ones who "have multiple facial piercings and tattoos" which I thought was funny, since rebs is one of them!
One thing that really bugged me was how Bella treated her father-I would never treat my Dad that way! But then I suppose that would be the normal reaction from a girl who lost her mother way too young and only has a Dad.
The other thing that really bothered me was Jacob and his cavalier attitude towards his fathers beliefs and his tribes legands.
Other than that, it was a quick and easy read. In the meantime, I will be waiting for the address for the next bookcrosser.
