For ex-FBI profiler Pierce Quincy, it's the beginning of his worst nightmare. A car has just been found abandonned on a lonely stretch of Oregon highway. The engine still running, the door hanging open, a woman's purse sitting on the passanger seat, and the rain pouring down.
The driver of that car has vanished without a trace. The driver is his estranged wife, Rainie Conner.

Now the question is, How far will you go to get her back?

Did one of the ghosts of Rainie's past catch up with her? Or could her disappearance be connected with a vicious double homicide of a mother and daughter be the cause? One man knows what happens that night, and if he doesn't get what he wants, Rainie will be gone for good. Now as a terrifying deadline nears, Quincy plunges into the most desperate hunt of his life, in search of a killer, a lethal truth, and the love of his life.

But getting back what he lost may be murder...

I loved this one. Another A+ Gardner novel. The only thing I didn't like was that she made Rainie into a ditzy lush. She used to be a strong character.

The only other point that bugged me was the alluded weight of $20,000 in twenties. Well, when I finished the book, I went to work and actually weighed $20,000 in twenties. It only weighs 2.8 lbs. In the book it was alluded that it was heavy. I work with money, so I know it isn't heavy. Other then those two things, I really rather enjoyed the book.

I really liked this book. I was not expecting the end, but that is the beauty of her books, you rarely do. I had a hard time putitng this book down and it didn't take me very long to finish it. Since I've never had $20,000 in 20's I'd have assumed it would have been heavy... but guess not since you weighed it. Anyhow, thanks for sharing with me. This was another well written book by her and I'm glad to have gotten the chance to read it.

Journal Entry 6 by thegoaliegirl from Vancouver, Washington USA on Wednesday, February 21, 2007
Would like to turn this book into a bookring. I loved this book and would love for others to have the chance to experience this book.

To help ensure that things run smoothly (or that is the plan anyhow), I've put together a few rough guidelines for this one. I know that some people take longer to read a book (busy, got a bunch of books to read before, work, etc)...

1. Please try to have this book read within 3 weeks. I know this isn't always possible, but if you make an effort to try that is all I can ask.

2. Please journal when you receive the book.

3. When about halfway through, please contact the next person on the list for their mailing address.

4. Please journal again when you've read the book and it is on its way.

5. Have fun! Reading is supposed to be fun!

6. To the last person in the ray: Please keep this book moving... RABCK it, give it to a friend, etc... just please keep it moving once you're done reading it. Thanks!

If interested, please PM with your location and shipping preferences. I'll PM back. If you don't hear from me after a few days, then I didn't get your PM. My computer isn't set up yet due to lack of space in my current location, so I have to check my email at work. If you don't hear from me right away, please be patient. Thanks!

I really liked this book.
I guess the main characters have appeared in other novels; anyway, the plot was easy to follow, and very well deviced.
Credible characters; the boy's psychology is very well captured.
And no, I didn't guess the end... until the very end!
Thanks for sharing; it will soon be on its way to Brunton11.
