"Trixie Stone is fourteen years old and in love for the first time. She's also the light of her father's life--a straight A student; a freshman in high school who is pretty and popular; a girl who's always looked up to Daniel Stone as a hero. Until, that is, her world is turned upside down with a single act of violence...and suddenly everything Trixie has believed about her family and herself seems to be a lie.
For fifteen years, Daniel Stone has been an even-tempered, mild-mannered man: a stay at home dad to Trixie and a husband who has put his own career as a comic book artist behind that of his wife Laura, who teaches Dante's INFERNO at a local college. But years ago, he was completely different: growing up as the only white boy in an Eskimo village, he was teased mercilessly for the color of his skin. He learned to fight back: stealing, drinking, robbing, and cheating his way out of the Alaskan bush. to become part of a family, he reinvented himself, channeling his rage onto the page and burying his past completely...until now. Could the young boy who once made Trixie's face fill with light when he came to the door have been the one to end her childhood forever? She says that he is, and that is all that it takes to make Daniel, a man with a history he has hidden even from his family, venture to hell and back in order to protect his daughter..."

Thank you classicfox! I can't wait to read this one!
I'm not a big comic book fan so I kind of skipped through the comics, but the story of Trixie was sensational! I did, however, figure out Daniel Stone's hidden message. It's always so hard to tell who is lying in Picoult's stories. This book is off to LadyKnightNiko, the winner of my 10% weight loss RABCK. Enjoy!

Release #30 for Guinaveve's Keep Them Moving 2007 Challenge
Thanks so much for sending this to me- it arrived safe and sound today, as well as the beautiful bookmark! As I'm backed up on TBR books right now for school, my coworker is borrowing it and reading it before me. Thanks again!
This wasn't the best Picoult book I've read (that would have been Picture Perfect), but I'd say I'd rank it as number 4. It was one of the only two that I haven't previously guessed the ending. Thanks once again missprisy for sending this to me!

this has found it's way back to me...
at guinaveve's request I have pulled this from the bag of stuff going to the exchange- so happy reading! =)
Thank you so much for exchanging with me LadyKnightNiko. I really enjoy Jodi Picoult's books and look forward to reading this. I am going to start it tonight. I am going to share it with my mom and then we will see where it goes afterwards.
What a great story! I have really enjoyed all of the Picoult novels that I have read so far. I am not a comic book fan, but the comic books incorporated into this story really added to it. I think Picoult tries to include a shocking ending into her stories and every time until now I have been surprised. This one was not difficult for me to figure out. It was still a good story though.
I am going to pass this along at the next BC meet-up. I don't think it will appeal to my mom after all.
Thanks for sharing it with me.
