This is a very moving book about friendship. The story is based in China back in the 19th century where foot binding was very common along with arranged marriages. Two girls become like sisters who share many things through their lives by using a fan with sercret coding that only women used to communicate with each other. A very deep friendship is formed between Snow Flower and Lily. I could read this book a couple of times and still walk away learning something new.
