Susan Michaels was once the hottest reporter on the Beltway Beat until a major scandal ruined her life and left her writing stories about alien babies and Elvis sightings. Life as she once knew it is over, or so she thinks until she gets a lead on the biggest story in town: The Seattle Slayer. She heads to the local animal shelter, expecting a tip on the latest rash of killings. Instead, she gets a story about the mayor feeding citizens to a ring of vampires... yeah. Just another day in her life.

Then she gets talked into adopting a cat she's allergic to. Her first thought is to neuter the cat. But when he turns out to be a gorgeous shapeshifting man who claims to be an immortal vampire slayer she thinks: not so fast. Next thought: seek professional help.
Susan doesn't know what to believe, but as she's drawn into a paranormal world, she comes to realize that the story that could bring her credibility is too unbelievable to expose. Now it's no longer a question of bringing the truth to her readers, it's a matter of saving lives and souls, and her only ally is a man she's allergic to. In the world of the Dark-Hunters, it's always dangerous. But never more so than when one very human woman can shatter their entire world with just one story. The only question is... will she? Dark Side of the Moon is full of Sherrilyn Kenyon's trademark sexy humor and breathtaking imagination.

WOW. This one was really great. It answered some questions about some on-going plot lines and really left me wanting more. It was not a standalone book for sure. You had to know some of the continuing characters and what is motivating them. In fact, I may go to the library and browse some of the older books, that are still travelling, to refresh my memory.

I will be ringing this one with the others. Just waiting to hear from the regulars to be sure they want to receive it.

Journal Entry 6 by kiki66 from Gauting, Bayern Germany on Tuesday, June 5, 2007
First of all sorry that it took me a little longer to read this one...

So now I am through it - more or less - but I have to admit that I got a bit tired of it. These stories seem to be rather the same with just names and Dark Hunters/Were Hunters changing... so I flipped through the pages and read a bit here and there... and the end. As much as I want to know all what's behind Ash I am not sure I want to read along :-(

Asking nikel for her address....

Arrived safe and sound in Vienne while I was on holiday!

I've started a new book 2 days ago - so depending on how much I like it, Kenyon will have to wait a few days ...

Update:
It was great to be back in the Dark Hunter-world and I loved this book like all the others. Sadly there was few new information on our Ash *sigh*
As Morgaine has her own copy, it now travels to joasik

I still enjoy this series very much. However, it's get more and more complicated and it's hard to keep up with who is connected to which god and why some people hate others and want to kill them. Am really curious what is going to happen with new Daimon/Dark-Hunters mix in the following books.

I finished Dark Side of the Moon yesterday, and I have to say I agree with everything joasik wrote. This is definitely not a good place to start if you're new to the world of Dark-Hunters. It looks like Sherrilyn Kenyon fans better buy the Dark-Hunter Companion that came out in November 2007...

Dark Side of the Moon is the 9th book in the series, and the third book to feature a Were-Hunter (after Night Play and Unleash the Night), but this Were-Hunter is also a Dark-Hunter. We get to meet both Acheron and Savitar, as well as a whole slew of other characters, among them several squires I feel I should remember from previous books, but don't. I was especially confused by something a squire called Kyl said on page 76: "You think we should call Kyros and Rafael and see if they can help us? They got a lot closer to the Spathis than anyone else... and unlike Danger, Euphemia nad Marco, and the others, they actually survived the encounter". Wasn't Danger the heroine of book 7, Sins of the Night? Was there a memo that I missed? Shouldn't she be living "happily ever after" with Lex? (Although I have to admit, I can't remember anything that happened in book 7... It can't have been very good.)

It took me several weeks to read Dark Side of the Moon, as I just couldn't get into the story properly. Somehow Sherrilyn Kenyon's recent books have lacked the emotion of her first books, and I haven't been drawn in as I used to be. I remember finishing her books in 2 days, and it took me almost a month to read this one. There's too much bad soap opera going on. It feels like the universe Sherrilyn Kenyon created has started to expand on its own, and she doesn't hold all the strings anymore.

Even though I didn't enjoy Dark Side of the Moon as much as I would have hoped, I want to continue reading the series. The plotline with Nick took an interesting turn, and I can't wait for Acheron's story, which will finally be released in August 2008. In addition to Acheron, I'm really curious to see what she has come up with in Devil May Cry, the story of Sin, the Sumerian moon god, and Katra, Artemis' handmaiden...

I have BooksnBeer's address, and I'll mail the book to her tomorrow.

I really enjoyed this book. I really enjoy the Dark Hunter characters. I do agree the mix of gods and who is attached to who is getting confusing. But, I still enjoyed the light, fun read. I liked that we are starting to learn a little more about the Squires. I also can’t wait to find out what is going on with Nick. It isn’t a deep book – and I don’t expect it to be – maybe that is why I enjoy them so much.

I actually finished this one on the Feb 22nd and just got the chance to write it up. I am still trying to find out who it goes to next – but, I will write in again when that is settled.

Now, where do I find one of these Dark Hunters????

Journal Entry 19 by CheriePie from Campbell, California USA on Friday, March 14, 2008
Received today. Thanks! Joanne, you know they're safe with me, even though I'm a bit behind on them. I plan to be reading Dancing with the Devil (book 3) very soon actually. :)
