Joanne Baldwin is a Weather Warden. Usually, all it takes is a wave of her hand to tame the most violent weather. But now, she's trying to outrun another kind of storm: accusations of corruption and murder. So, she's resorting to the very human tactic of running for her life...
Her only hope is Lewis, the most powerful warden known. Unfortunately, he's stolen not one but three bottles of Djinn-making him the most wanted man on earth. Still, she's racing hard to find him-before the bad weather closes in fast...

I've heard a lot of great things about this series. Although I don't think it's one of the best books that I've read, I definitely enjoyed it and it kept me at the edge of my seat - I even stayed up way past midnight to finish it. Since it was a series, I expected Joanne to be just fine in the end - so I certainly didn't expect the actual ending. Wow! Love the unexpected.

karen! Thank you so much for sending this book after my bronchitis kept me from the meetup. So sweet of you...
We finally installed our A/C unit yesterday and this book seemed like the most appropriate thing to read as I camped out in the nice, cool bedroom after a long, hard day at work.
Ill Wind was a quick read, but very enjoyable. It took me a little while to really get into the world Caine is describing, but after that point I was hooked. I loved the twist at the end and am looking forward to reading the other books in the series (as soon as I get my hands on them!).
I'm going to pass this book on to my coworker jtanny tomorrow. I think she'll enjoy it.

I like the idea for the story a lot. The idea of the weather, fire and earth wardens are interesting. And the Djinn story line is pretty cool. But as an author, Caine writes pretty muddled actions scenes. I couldn''t tell what the heck was happening at certain points until one of the characters in the story "explained" it to the reader.
And I have to say: did anyone else think it was odd that Joanne was fleeing for her life from Albany to Oklahoma City and decided to go back to Philadelphia... Thats a 6 hour or so drive... when she could have been in Erie, PA or Ohio in about 4.... Ah well...
Still -- after all that -- I am looking forward to the second book -- just to see how Joanne and David make out as Djinns (pun intended...).

I received this book with more in the series in July for an un-birthday present. i really enjoyed this book and thought it had an orginal (something I haven't come across anyway) storyline.
