One of the best books I've had to read for a class. His exploration of historical movements and the role of the church (or, what he explains is not necessarily the same, the "beloved community") in those movements is excellent. I fear his conclusion at the end of the book is not able to capture, and may even discredit, his analyses in the previous chapters, but I still found it quite fascinating.
I'm finishing my paper today, so those interested in history OR religion are welcome to borrow it. I'll probably eventually sell the book, but, maybe not.

well... I THINK I released this in Oklahoma City last Christmas, but it was in the middle of a cross-ocean move, so sadly I can't be sure.
