Bought at a library book sale. Good condition. This is a Newbery Medal winner.

One fateful day, sixteen people gather for the reading of Samuel W. Westing's will. To their surprise, the will turns out to be a contest, challenging the heirs to find out who among them is Westing's murderer. Forging ahead, through blizzards, burglaries, and bombings, the game is on. Only two people hold all the clues. One of them is a Westing heir. The other is you!

I absolutely adored this book as a kid. I found it to be a fascinating mystery I loved trying to solve. The characters are incredible. And the twist ending is brilliant and surprised me!

This was a great book! I had read it before when I was a kid because I remembered the somewhat bratty kid who kicked everyone in the shins! This book was a lot of fun!

I am going to send it out on a Bookray and ask the final person to Ray it Forward so it can have a lot of readers! :-)

Journal Entry 8 by JennyC1230 from Woodstock, Georgia USA on Thursday, September 27, 2007

Cute murder mystery. Weirder than I remembered, especially for a children's book. However, I did enjoy the chance to read it again.

This book is off to gecko4ever. Currently in the hands of the USPS!

Becky and I were finally able to meet up for lunch today, and the book has been passed to me. I plan on taking a break from my current book to read this so that it can continue its journey.

Journal Entry 16 by Adia415 from Cleves, Ohio USA on Sunday, March 23, 2008
I finished the book over the weekend and was a bit disappointed. I read a lot of teen and YA literature since I'm a teacher, and I had higher expectations for this since it was a Newberry winner. I thought it was a little uneven and none of the characters seemed to have much depth. The mystery itself was a little disappointing and overly complicated. I did enjoy the humor and the variety of characters though. Regardless, this was something I had wanted to read for awhile, so thanks for inviting me to be a part of this ray. I've PMed the next person and will journal again when it goes in the mail.

A really enjoyable story. Very strange people, but all nice. The story is not very exciting, but if you like puzzles, this is the perfect story.

Journal Entry 24 by Lisagt from Holsworthy, New South Wales Australia on Saturday, July 19, 2008
I was forever borrowing "The mysterious disappearance of Leon, I mean Noel" from the public library when I was a kid. This title does seem a bit convoluted but it was still fun. Children and YA book are alot more sophisticated these days (but then so are kids) and so I tried to approach this one as 12 yrs old again.
Not sure who is next but I'm on the lookout for a worthy recipient. Will update with a journal entry when I know.
Thanx to all for sharing. I quite enjoyed revisiting my childhood with this book.

Journal Entry 27 by JennyC1230 from Woodstock, Georgia USA on Friday, August 8, 2008
This is now a Ray-it-Forward for The Westing Game by: Ellen Raskin.

I’ll find the first person that wants this book and send it to them. I just ask that they pass the book along “BookRay” fashion when they are done with it.

If you have this book then please look for another BookCrosser to pass it to. Check the wish lists, leave a message on the forums, a yahoo group, the BookRelay, or offer it at a meeting...whatever way you choose to pass it on is up to you. If no other BookCrossers want it then send it along its way as a wild release but this should be a last resort.

What are the advantages of Ray it Forward? Time frame – I ask that you pass the book along in a couple months or so, but because there is not a “waiting list” the time is a little more relaxed than a standard BookRay.

Shipping Preferences – Choose your own. If you need to post within your own country then do so. If you choose to send international that is great too. If postal costs are a problem right now then hand it to another BookCrosser at a meeting, ask for postage from the receiver or find some other way to get the book in the hands of another BookCrosser.

***Please note that it would be polite to let the next person know that this is a Ray It Forward book before you pass it along to them so that they will know that they will be expected to pass it on in a couple months.

Enjoy the Book!

Got: 3th of December
I got this book in the morning or rather yesterday, but the postman and I missed each other. Thank you Kayellbee!

Update: 30th of December
I have finished the book.
It was very interesting, captivating. I Liked It Very Much. :-) I think I would like this book a permanent one onto my bookshelf.
There were some twits in it, which kept me in excitement to the very end. I couldn't solve the mystery by myself - maybe if I had read it in Hungarian the clues would have been more obvious hi-hi-hi :-). But I had a very good time!

I have found the next reader - jneni - who is interested in this story, so on Friday I'll post the book to Singapore.
