This is the first Neil Gaiman book i've read. There's something to it, no doubt, but i wouldn't rate it higher than good entertainment. If there is some depth, it is American depth, which i cannot comprehend. It reminds me of some books by Stephen King. The book is trying real hard to reach something but at the end the whole of it remains shallow. Then what's good about this books comes from the moments. Some passages are really well constructed and entertaining. The depth is reached in good passages rather than from a core line that carries through. Like America. E pluribus unum.

I gave this book to my sister who is about release somewhere in the near future. She lives in Helsinki in Kallio district.
