A new Dirk Pitt adventure. From the Sibirian Lake Baikal to the Gobi Desert... Again full of action and surprising events. It's about Oil and tthe world economy.

And the author wrote himself again into this book; in a very smal part, as a bus driver...

Once again I can only recommend to look at all those foreign and unknown places with "Google-Erath"!

This is the book for a bookray. The following readers take part:

"LindyLouMac" from Vetralla, Italy (from and to EU only!)

"perryfran" from Rockville, Maryland, USA (worldwide)
"sgscarcliff" from San Francisco, California, USA (worldwide, 2007)

Arrived safely yesterday, thankyou Book-man-8 for kindly signing my husband up for yet another Clive Cussler. Over 550 pages so should keep him quiet for a few days! I will get him to read it soon but will not post out until sometime in January as do not want to risk it getting lost in the chaos of seasonal mail! So trust it will be Ok to take longer than normal.
Update:20/01/07 Unfortunately the arrival of this book coincided with a family bereavement and a consquently hectic six weeks, so my husband is just reading this now. My apologies to everyone on the list for the delay in moving this on. It will be posted on to Lapin-blanc shortly.

At last my husband has read this, our apologies for having had the book for so long, not our normal behaviour.
The story was rather similar to his previous novels, with the usual evil genius seeking world domination. However as a Cussler fan it was still worth reading. Thanks once again to book-man-8 for providing the opportunity to read and enjoy this latest offering.

It was my first Dirk Pitt adventure. Quite entertaining, I must admit, although I found the first part much better than the seconde one. Thank you book-man-8 for this bookray!

The book is on its way to BrooklinBrat! Enjoy it!

Another enjoyable Cussler novel! Although some of the events were quite far-fetched and more than coincidental (i.e. Dirk and Summer just happened to discover the wreck of the Chinese ship in Hawaii at the same time Pitt was involved in related events in Mongolia), this was still all that a Cussler book should be - full of action, interesting ideas, and fun. And I did learn a few things from this book about the Mongol empire, Genghis and Kublai Khan, and the geography of Siberia and Mongolia. I especially found interesting the facts about Lake Baikal. It is the largest (by volume) fresh water lake in the world and contains over 1/5 of the world's fresh liquid surface water!

Thanks book-man-8 for another great story! When I get time, I want to read more of Cussler's previous novels that I have missed.

I will be mailing this to sgscarcliff today. USPS DC# 0306 1070 0005 5934 2108
