Blurb:
The secret inside the outside
Will Rabjohns has everything. He´s handsome, he´s rich, and he´s revered as the world´s greatest wildlife photographer. He´s also a haunted man, driven to risk his life for his art - to capture the raw tragedy of the wild, the beauty of nature´s violence.
After a near-fatal encounter with a polar bear, he lies in a coma. There he must relive a central childhood memory: a meeting with ancient and terrible forces which revealed to him the mystery at the heart of nature. And he realizes that if he awakes, he must confront the darkness of his past and wage a war, not only for his own soul, but for the soul of the planet and every animal that breathes upon it.

Misleading blurb! My opinion is this:
Will is a photographer of wildlife - usually wildlife that´s going to become extinct soon. He is photographing polar bears this time around. In the night they come into town and go on the dump to search for food. Will is aware of that but goes out in search for a friend with to much drink in him. He is then attaced by a bear and falls into a coma. For the reader the coma consists mostly of a flashback into his childhood.
The fact that Will is gay is not overshadowing the book. It would, in general, have worked just as well if he was not. But it is a major background to the storry and keeps turning up.

Sorry that I kept the book so long but I just wasn't in the mood for an english book in the last months.

The story of the book was quite enthralling especially at the beginning where the nature around Will was described. Also his dreams during the time at the hospital were really interesting.
But then the story became boring in hugh parts. It didn't happen a thing anymore. Will just switched around trying to find himself. Might be that it is interesting for persons that are involved in the homosexual scene but I am not and so I really was bored in some parts.
Additionally the language used by the author is sometimes so describing that you start reading a sentence and don't know what he was on to on the end of it, so that you have to read it once again.

It is an interesting story at the beginning but then it dropped strongly.

I think I will try another Clive Barker once.
