It is a measure of the writer's talent that no matter how bizarre the situation, it is believable. Late in the book a character laments his predicament as "an irresistible convergence of violence, mayhem and mortality!" If he had added nonstop hilarity, he would have had a perfect description of this book. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed this off-beat book about crooked developers, bungling crooks, and amusement parks.

Picked up at the BC in DC holiday party. Looks like a good Hiaasen book. Adding to Mt. TBR.

Haven't finished yet, on page 300ish. If you are willing to suspend logic and disbelief, then it's a very good book. Molly McNamara reminds me alot of Grandma Mazur from Janet Evanovich's bounty hunter series. An old lady with a big gun and a trigger finger.

Really enjoyed this book. Yes, one has to suspend reality and believe that some of these characters would do the things they are doing, such as being friendly with someone who had previously shot them and not firing incompetent employees, but hey, it's Florida. I enjoyed both the mystery and activism themes of the book. I can easily see the author as the main character, it screams Carl himself given his history of environmental support through his journalism. That said, it was worth the read and I'm very interested in picking up more of his books.
