Arguably the first ever mystery novel, The Moonstone may seem somewhat unpolished (pardon the pun) to modern readers, but it is still a classic work of fiction and well worth the read.

Book 'caught' in Cafe Nero, whilst nibbling on a latte-dunked biscotti (think that's the Italian spelling on the wrapper....). Once read & reviewed, will re-release to continue exciting, hopefully global(!)journey.

Managed to sneak away and finish this book over Xmas...a magnificent mystery and one I am glad not to have missed. It was heartening to learn that Victorian 'must haves' in the female line, are small ears and feet; mine being small but perfectly formed (on second thoughts, my pieds are sixes, so they're only borderline perfection!!)

Anyway, in the true spirit of Miss Clack, I now intend to surreptitiously deposit The Moonstone for the next person to discover and hopefully enjoy as much as I have!

On a table in plain view. There didn't seem to be a lot of books in evidence in this cafe, so I left it with some concern that it would simply be binned by a member of staff. I'm very pleased to see that Rococo found it even before I had a chance to do my Release Alert.
