I read this one about two years ago and loved it. When I saw it at my USB for a buck I snatched it for trade or release.

From the Publisher
The No.1 Ladies´ Detective Agency, located in Gaborone, Botswana, consists of one woman, the engaging Precious Ramotswe. A cross between Kinsey Millhone and Miss Marple, this unlikely heroine specializes in missing husbands, wayward daughters, con men and imposters. When she sets out on the trail of a missing child she is tumbled headlong into some strange situations and not a little danger. Deftly interweaving tragedy and humor to create a memorable tale of human desires and foibles, the book is also an evocative portrait of a distant world.

Thanks for the RABCK arugh48187! It came at a perfect time, I've got the flu, so I'm spending a lot of time reading in bed right now. I just finished a ring book, so I've started reading this book right away.

What a wonderfull book! I really liked Mma Ramotswe's down to earth thinking, and that it all took place in Africa was a nice change too. (I've read heaps of detective book that are set in England).
I'm hoping to find more books in this series, because I'd love to find out how the story continues for Mma Ramotswe and Mr. J.L.B. Matekone.

I'm not a detective reader at all, but I've seen a few copies of this passing through my hands, so perhaps the message is that I should try reading it already?
I got it during a very nice meal with friendly BookCrossers. It goes on my Mt. TBR. Thank you!

Yes, I liked it, too! Good atmosphere. Mma Ramotswe is certainly someone one would like to have tea with.

I think I'll take this book to a BBQ party tonight and see if anyone is interested.
