Arthur & George

Engaging tale that blends fiction and some very real people that at one time were very much alive. Arthur in this novel is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. George Edalji is the elder son of a vicar of Indian descent and a Scottish mother. When animals are found mutilated and needing to put down, George is the primary suspect. Arthur is grieving his wife's death and agrees to assist George in proving his innocence.

Thank you for sending this book from my wishlist! I have enjoyed other titles by this author.
I had never heard of the fascinating case that forms this center of this based-on-fiction tale: an innocent man accused of horrific crimes, and the involvement of a famous author in clearing his name. Barnes traces the development of the two men, one the bustling, brilliant larger-than-life Arthur Conan Doyle, the other a reserved, socially awkward solicitor George Edalji. I enjoyed the portrayal of the time period very much, as well as Barnes' skill with language and innovative storytelling. Thank you for the chance to read this book. I will release it or pass it on to another Bookcrosser.
