I really enjoyed this, though found it a little contrived at times. I also wondered if there was more too it that I missed....
From Amazon:
The Smart family's lacklustre holiday in Norwich is turned upside down when a beguiling stranger called Amber appears, bringing with her love, joy, pain and upheaval. The Smarts try to make sense of their bewildering emotions as Amber tramples over family boundaries and forces them to think about their world and themselves in an entirely new way. "The Accidental" is at once a mysterious web of secret identities and a ruthlessly honest look at the silent cracks that can develop unnoticed in relationships over time.

I very nearly bought this in WH Smith last week but plumped for something else at the last minute. Now I can have my cake and eat it! Thanks PsychJo, it was good to meet you!
Mixed feelings about this one. It was a good story but I don't understand why Ali Smith has to use so many gimmicks when she writes. It's a good story anyway. It doesn't need all those tricks. Anyway, I did enjoy it, much more than Hotel World. I shall set it free sometime this week. Thanks for sharing, psychjo, and yes, I was also left feeling like I missed something - I kind of expected to find out that there was a relationship between Eve and Amber, but if there was it was too subtle for me to see.
