Once upon a time, in a town called Normal, in the state of Illinois (pronounced Illinoy not Illinoise), a girl named Cathy left a book on the campus of Illinois State University across the street, to the west of the Bone Student Center, in a parking lot next to a car with a student parking pass hanging from the rearview mirror and a rear window full of stuffed animals.
