When the body of an aged hotel owner is discovered amidst the ruins of a rarely-visited archaeological site by the Nile, Inspector Yusuf Khalifa of the Luxor police expects it to be an open-and-shut case. But, the more he finds out about the dead man, the uneasier he becomes. It reminds him of an earlier death - the brutal murder of an Israeli woman for which he always suspected they'd convicted the wrong man. What begins as a routine investigation rapidly turns out to be anything but...Forced into an uneasy alliance with a hard-drinking Jerusalem detective and a campaigning Palestinian journalist, Khalifa enters a murky, murderous world of greed, duplicity, intrigue and revenge as he goes in search of an elusive 2000 year-old mystery with the power, if it fell into the wrong hands, to plunge the Middle East into all-out war...Spanning the millennia - from ancient Jerusalem and the Crusades to the Holocaust and the modern-day no-man's landof the Gaza strip, from Cathar heretics to coded medieval manuscripts and long-lost Nazi treasure - "The Last Secret of the Temple" is a thrilling, rollercoaster adventure.

RELEASE NOTES:

This is the book for my NSS partner. Sorry it's only the one, due to space limits in the box I laid my sticky paws on! I've filled the box with lots of other shiny things, appropriate for a Not-So-Secret "Back to School" Stationary Surprise. Mostly things that should be useful for puzzle books and birthday cards, and of course, a handful of (very) random postcards for jotting notes to people when sending them books!

Please do accept my heartfelt apologies that this will sadly arrive just after the opening day, but I hope you got my message to let you know that you haven't been forgotten and that it's on the way. Enjoy!

WOW!! Received today from Rillaith, as part of my NSS(BTS)SS, along with a whole collection of postcards, greetings cards, pens, pencils, erasers and other stationery items. I feel thoroughly spoiled.

Can't wait to read the book, looks like a great read, just the sort of thing I like to get my head stuck into!

It took me a little while to get to this in the end, especially as it was a NSSBTSSS pressie, but it was worth the wait.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, found the setting and the historical facts that were interlaced throughout the best parts, and although I expect the author put them in as background to the story I think they were the best part.

Not sure what my plans are so am going to mark this as reserved for now until I decide. (Am tempted to make it permanent collection)

Thanks again to Rillaith as my NSSBTSSS partner.
