Journal Entry 1 by Dorothyredboots from York, North Yorkshire United Kingdom on Saturday, September 2, 2006
Rescued from a charity shop. Read this one a while ago and enjoyed it - as usual I can't remember it too well now!
From Amazon:-
'When Sheba arrives Barbara senses that she will be different from the rest of her staff-room colleagues. Sure enough, Sheba starts an affair with a pupil and is caught. When all the dust settles and Sheba's life falls apart, Barbara is there for her.'

RELEASE NOTES:
Sorry Dorothyredboots! I actually picked this up at the York BC Meet in November and only just realised I never recorded it!
I did read it, but really didnt like it. It's mean. I think it is also homophobic, but I may be giving the author too much credit for specific discrimination, I suspect she doesnt actually like anyone! I prefer books where one can have some sympathy with at least one of the characters. I prefer one person to be 'likeable'!
But this book may find a happy new owner when I do get round to releasing it, because mean books seem to be quite popular as Ian McEwan's and Donna Tartt's successes attest! (no, I didnt like their stuff either!) And actually the film of this book was pretty successful for a smallish British film. But it did have great actors in it.
