Wild Magic (Fool's Gold, Book 2)

I bought this hardcover book at Half Price Books in Madison, WI while I was there doing research for a month. This book is the second in the Fool's Gold series, following Sorcery Rising.
This is one of those books that I really recommend not reading out of order. There are several different storylines that weave their own path, occasionally intertwining. With all that happened in the previous book it would take a while to catch up with what is going on.
Although the Rose of the World is intriguing (and the title character of the next book in the this series), I found my favorite character by far is Katla Aransen. How can you not love such an independent, strong-willed, and yes a bit pig-headed female character? She would be interesting just as a female smith, or even a strong-willed daughter, yet there is also her connection to the earth. I look forward to seeing how she makes out in the next novel.
