These is my Words: The Diary of Sarah Agnes Prine, 1881-1901
3 journalers for this copy...
I picked this book up during our holidays in England, at the agricultural museum in Stanmer park, near Brighton.
Now this was an enjoyable read alright. Highly enjoyable. Especially because of the voice of Sarah. She does remind me of Taylor Greer, one of Barbara Kingsolver's heroines, also from Tuscon area. "Waiting till the cows come home", "talking a blue streak" and so on.
It was ery interesting to read about daily life around the frontier, that is, the area where the native people were driven out or killed and the European settlers took the land. I found it chilling, also, when this story develops further and Sarah writes about her relatives, where this brother has a family of seven children and that one grows even more. A plague upon the land.
In the end the story peters out, more like an endless soap story. Still, I was sad to finish this book.

Given as a surprise to a very new bookcrosser. I hope she enjoys it!
As a new bookcrosser, i got this book as a surprise.
And what a good choise it was!
I liked it a lot. Not only because of the story about the settlers but also because of the lovestory.
At the end it becomes a bit like 'the little house at the prairy' but never the less a good read it was.

I didnt exactly find this book but got it from a friend who introduced me to bookcrossing this way. Read it and liked it a lot although the male hero is a bit too much of a hero towards the end. Then forgot all about it but here it is, will send it travelling asap.
