Amazon Synopsis:

A collection of disturbing, poetic short stories, all dealing with relationships, from the author of "Magdalena the Sinner". Off-beat and unsettling, the stories reflect the author's quietly dissonant view of how the European middle classes live, love and transgress.

These stories are an exploration of the off- beat and disturbing secret lives of Europe's middle classes. The characters only seem to experience freedom in their fantasies, which happen in the most unexpected places. Sometimes lives are destroyed in a second, as in "Beautiful Things", where a man mowing the lawn observes the "hard, sad face" of his wife. Not much later he has left his home and family and is aimlessly shoplifting in a department store. The story ends as he drops a photograph of his children down the shop's spiral staircase "and watches after it". The stories are disconcerting, rather eerie, and often heavy with sexual tension.

I offered this in an online book swap and it was selected by candy-is-dandy. It will be on its way to her shortly.

Time to move this on. My friend found these stories a bit odd.

I haven't got around to reading it so hope it will find someone who will read and enjoy.
