Drowning Ruth

I enjoyed this book. The story begins in the winter of 1919. It goes back and forth between the present and the past. The story is told by some of the main characters and a narrator. There are twists and turns throughout the book which keep you guessing as to what really happened that fateful night.

Thanks, dabercro, for sending this book.
What, exactly, happened on that fateful night Mattie drowned? Told through event both past and present, the story slowly unravels itself and the truth emerges. Amanda and Ruth were the only two there that night who would remember what happened. Ruth was so young she only has bits and pieces of memories. Amanda has unsuccessfully tried to forget that night only to have the current events make it necessary to recall the past events.
adding to the ABC bookbox
Taking from bookstogive's ABC bookbox - thanks! This is a book that keeps appearing everywhere and I kept thinking I read it but looking at it closer (and searching my shelf), I don't think I have (lol, too many books and too little time) but I think I am meant to ...
This story was very compelling - the past was told in bits and pieces that kept you reading to hear more. The character of Amanda was well-written. My only complaint is that I would have liked to had a deeper characterization of Carl.
