A young woman caught in the rivalry between Queen Mary and her half sister, Elizabeth, must find her true destiny amid treason, poisonous rivalries, loss of faith, and unrequited love.

It is winter, 1553. Pursued by the Inquisition, Hannah Green, a fourteen-year-old Jewish girl, is forced to flee Spain with her father. But Hannah is no ordinary refugee. Her gift of "Sight," the ability to foresee the future, is priceless in the troubled times

of the Tudor court. Hannah is adopted by the glamorous Robert Dudley, the charismatic son of King Edward's protector, who brings her to court as a "holy fool" for Queen Mary and, ultimately, Queen Elizabeth. Hired as a fool but working as a spy; promised in wedlock but in love with her master; endangered by the laws against heresy, treason, and witchcraft, Hannah must choose between the safe life of a commoner and the dangerous intrigues of the royal family that are inextricably bound up in her own yearnings and desires.

Teeming with vibrant period detail and peopled by characters seamlessly woven into the sweeping tapestry of history, The Queen's Fool is another rich and emotionally resonant gem from this wonderful storyteller.

***stalled bookray*** Continued with new book here: http://bookcrossing.com/journal/4590391

Would like to turn this book into a book ray. I somehow ended up buying two copies of this book, so I'd like to turn this one into a bookray, so it can travel around while I'm at home, unable to travel.

To help ensure that things run smoothly (or that is the plan anyhow), I've put together a few rough guidelines for this one. I know that some people take longer to read a book (busy, got a bunch of books to read before, work, etc)...

1. Please try to have this book read within 3 weeks. I know this isn't always possible, but if you make an effort to try that is all I can ask.

2. Please journal when you receive the book.

3. When about halfway through, please contact the next person on the list for their mailing address.

4. Please journal again when you've read the book and it is on its way.

5. Have fun! Reading is supposed to be fun!

6. To the last person in the ray: Please keep this book moving... RABCK it, give it to a friend, etc... just please keep it moving once you're done reading it. Thanks!

If interested, please PM with your location and shipping preferences. I'll PM back. If you don't hear from me after a few days, then I didn't get your PM. My computer isn't set up yet due to lack of space in my current location, so I have to check my email at work. If you don't hear from me right away, please be patient. Thanks!

Mailed to GateGypsy today, to start this bookray!

As it is the end of summer, just before the school year starts, I was desperate for something to read, and since when my daughter GateGypsy received this she had already started into a different bookring book, I figured I had time to snatch it up.

I can't vouch for Phillippa Gregory's historical accuracy, but she made the historical figures/characters come alive! The creation of the Queen's Fool/Holy Seer/spy, was *inspired.* Through this girl's eyes, we could see the very fabric of the country, the political intregue, the divisions, the fears... and the unique third voice of the Jewish people in a time where most of what we've heard focusses on Catholic versus Protestant.

GateGypsy had bought The Other Boleyn Girl for me for Christmas, and I thoroughly enjoyed that, too. (This book chronologically follows that, as it is the story of two princesses vying for power after the death of their father, the infamous Henry VIII.) I sincerely look forward to more by this author.

The book is in GateGypsy's hands now. Ah, the postage I save living in the same house with her! :-)

Yes! I have it! It arrived in the mail on Monday, and my mother had squirrelled it away before it had a chance to get out of the car. Finished it in three days, I think.

I have a little over half of Lullaby to finish, but then I'll get to this. Thank you so much, thegoaliegirl, for sharing this. I'm looking forward to it, and I know my mother enjoyed it! ;-)

*********************************************************

I really enjoyed this book, though I found the character emotionally young... I guess she was young. **laughs** She seemed to be in love with just about everyone, though, at some point in time -- in love as in in admiration of, I guess. I quite enjoyed hearing a lot about Mary, and a lot of very positive things, too, because history does not remember Mary Tudor in a particularly friendly way. My English teacher hates her **laughs** I am looking forward to reading the rest of them! My mother owns at least one other -- the Other Boleyn Girl, which I bought for her for Christmas last year... and I'm pretty sure I bought her The Queen's Lover, too.
***********************************************************

I mailed this, I swear I did... Either at the end of September, or the beginning of October, I cannot remember which at this point in time, but I do remember sending it on to New York. I hope stacey likes it! Thanks for sharing this! Sorry for the delay!

I don't know when I ended up with this book, or why I got it back, but I did. I'll be moving it along soon.
