The extraordinary true story of an 18th century ship and its cargo of remale convicts.

Read this a long time ago, but remember it being really effective in transporting me to another time and place and the extraordinary role of women on board ship.

A worthy member of the 'history & chocolate' book box.

Taken from Thing-1's bookbox.
It is hard to imagine what life must have been like for the women on a ship providing 'sexual services and a breeding bank' for the men in Botany Bay.
This is a 'must read', thank you :-)

Read some time ago, but it seems I forgot to make a journal entry. So Sorry. I know I found parts of it fascinating, but was less convinced by its accuracy.
To be wild released in Sheffield in the next few days.
