I really loved this book. It's extremely well written for someone who didn't know finsih high school. It's a reminder that your family isn't as bad as you think. They could have been worse - like the authors.

I'm sending this on as a rabck to classicfox

Woo hoo! Withoutwings has sent me a surprise rabck. This was on my wish list--thank you so much!! This book looks really good. :->

8/8/06--already 1/2 way done. So interesting.

Finished this last night. Words that come to mind when describing this book are "darkly comic." How anyone could survive the childhood that Burroughs did and be relatively "normal" is amazing. At times I was rolling on the floor while other times tears came to my eyes. The Finches were certainly one of a kind. I'm looking forward to reading his other novels, SELLIVISION and DRY. I am very anxious to read about his present life. (going right now to put them on my wish list.)
On its way next week to another BCer whose wish list it is on. Thank you so much for this rabck, withoutwings--what a kind gesture. :->

Wow, I was so surprised to go to my mailbox this afternoon and find a parcel. Then to see that I am the recipient of a RABCK. The best part is that I was walking home from the postoffice where I had just mailed a RABCK to another member. I think thats karma. I am so looking forward to reading this.

I just finished reading this and am not sure what to think. I can believe some of these things happening to one person, but certainly not all of them. Since its written as a 'memoir' I chalk it up to the writer's active imaginings that all of these things really did happen to him to this extent.

Will be passing it along to my sister Sha-ooh to see what she thinks. Prehaps she'll remember when we had to tear down the kitchen ceiling...
