Dicey's Song in a Newberry Award Winner
It's the story of a thirteen year old girl who has had the resposibility of her younger sisters and brothers thrust on her by circumstances but now has come to live with her grandmother who will assume that role.
How she adapts to this change and what she makes of herself is the thrust of this story. It is wonderful. The characters are ones you will continue to think about long after you close the book.

Got this book from the local meetup we had last night, thanks I think I'll enjoy it.
"Keeping her family together is what thirteen-year-old Dicey does best. But now that all four Tillerman childeren have found a new home with their granmother, Dicey has to learn to let go a little and let them live their own lives. She just can't solve all their problems anymore.
But when you've taken care of everyone else for so long, it's had not to continue with the old ways. And Dicey's got a few problems of her own; she's bored with everyone and everything at school and doesn't think anyone can tell her anything she wants to know.
Slowly Dicey begins to undertsnad that everyone has something to teach and that life is a lesson that doesn't get easier...." -the back of the book.
