this is an amazing mystery historical fiction fantasy romance (etc) book. an evil magician murders a girl at court and ties her soul to her body so he can use her to preform dark magic. her sister, who holds both a high position at court and in the Romani world, vows to avenge her and free her soul. there is a sequal called "The Silken Shroud" which you should read after this.
