*gasp*
Out of all the books you sent I was most excited about this one! Thanks EVER so much!
I saw the movie The Door in the Floor this past winter with my husband. Since then both of us have wanted to read this book. It was so strangely touching, and wonderfully bizarre. I am very curious to see how the book compares.
There is also a lot more of the story that I will get, because the movie is apparently only based on the first 180 pages or something like that.
What a wonderful surprise! :)

Borrowed this one from day-zee to giva go. I have seen the movie"door in the floor" and really enjoyed it... My problem was all I could see was Jeff Bridges while reading so I had to put it back down:) perhaps I will try again some other time.
I very much enjoyed reading this book. There's a whole lot I want to say about it too.
First of all, comparing to the movie the first 180 pages or so were exactly the same. The words gave off the very same feel to me that the cinematography did, and I thought that the charachters were beautifully chosen. I didn't find it distracting at all to picture the movie cast as the novel charachters I built in my head throughout reading.
I enjoyed John Irvings style in this book, and how there are soooo many stories that help tie up all the loose ends near the finish, although I did find it a bit tedious that every main charachter was a writer or a reader of the writers and there was synopsis' and excerpts of what everybody was writing. It made me wonder if John Irving writes about writers all the time... If he does, I don't know that I would read another; I got the jist of it this time.
That said though, I thought it was a great book. And even through the moments of doubt I *liked* it. It never disappointed me.
Thanks again DrSlump612! Sorry it took me so long to read it!
I think I might pass it off to a friend who is interested in bookcrossing. I'll make her promise to make a quick journal and pass it off when she's done. ;)
