Interesting book intertwining 2 stories; that of a murder of 2 Norwegian immigrants on a small island off the coast of New Hampshire and that of a photographer researching the murder more than a century later.

There are common themes in the 2 stories and although I preferred the story of Maren (a Norweigian immigrant) I liked the way the two stories were intertwined.

I especially thought the ending was good.

I am sending this to my NSSSBTSSS partner as she likes to read Orange prize winners/shortlisters and this was on the 1998 shortlist for the Orange prize.

Thanks for the opportunity to aquaint myself with a new-to-me author. This looks good.

I found this book unusual and quite touching. An enjoyable read that kept me wondering - something was going to happen, but what?? I wasn't prepared for what it was.
