The story of the orphan Mhairi McLeod, born out of wedlock on the mystical magical Isle of Skye, and her quest for fortune and her heritage over forty years. It is a quest which is to take her away from her beloved island to the wretched poverty of the industrial north, to an America which promises a fulfillale dream, to a London where her wishes are men's command.

I found "The Other Woman" sitting on a bench outside the Sainsbury's supermarket in Nuneaton. I thought it was a good read with a mix of romance, history and sadness. I am not yet sure where I will leave it for someone else to read, but might give it to my daughter to leave in East Midlands Airport, or give to my sister to leave in Aberystwyth, Wales. I don't travel around much these days and it seems boring to just leave it somewhere near home.
