The Jane Austen Book Club: A Novel

Good but stranger than I thought it would be. Some parts made me laugh out loud and others I think I just didn't get. It's amazing how little this book actually talked about Jane Austen, but then, we can read her books for that.
Sending off to another bookcrosser. Hope you enjoy it.
Book arrived safely!!! I'm sorry it took me a while to log it. I've been getting ready for a month-long trip to Minnesota (where I and the book are at the moment).
Thank you so much!

I've never read anything by Austen despite three of her books sitting on my shelf. While this book wasn't really what I expected, I did find it very Austen-like based on known cliches.
Despite its predictability, I enjoyed this book as a light-hearted read and am passing it on to opaldragonfly.

Several women and one man gather monthly to discuss the six Austen novels, such as Pride and Prejudice. Against these discussions, the backgrounds and current life situations of these participants are revealed. There's romance in there and some rather funny moments, as well. There's also some literary analysis of Austen's novels as seen through the eyes of the various characters, and through the eyes of famous literary figures. It is not a rousing action plot, but it does have its moments when you wonder what will happen next! I enjoyed it, and I thought seeing the characters change a bit (as Austen has some of hers do) was nice. I will bring this to our February meeting for release.
Snagged at the monthly bookcrossing meeting. Will add to Mount TBR.

RELEASE NOTES:
Actually thought this a bit of a dull read but I wanted to see why it was a NYT bestseller.
Anyhoo... will leave in the Bookcrossing basket! :)
