Completed, thanks to all that particpated!
but it was a good read, and if you ignore the claims and counterclaims, it's quite enjoyable.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
finally got this off in the mail. hope you enjoy!
I enjoyed reading this book in spite of the press. The writing style was very different but not too hard to follow. I did "bog down" near the middle and had a hard time getting through, but it picked up again for me near the end.
There are several places where I would have questioned whether the story were really true even if I hadn't read the press on it, but overall I thought it was a very good story.

However, ignoring my grammer-Nazi self for a minute, the story wasn't bad. Certainly not the best I've read, but I am glad I read and experienced this. Thank you missprisy for that oppurtunity.
I'll have the book on it's way home soon.

: )
I thought the format was interesting.
I liked how he did the dialogue.
I hated the syntax the capitalization of words like: "Hall" or "Office" or "Room."
I hated the random bolding of sentences.
As accounts of treatments go I thought it was fair and well done, noting on riddiculous situations and quirky characters you meet.
Organized crime boss and fed. judge as pals, okay I'll bite.
He lost me on the back story about suicide trip to Paris.
Attempted molestation by French priest.
Je ne sais pas.
He is a clever man.
If he wasn't a white, male writer, I don't believe he would still have a publishing career. The lady who pulled the whole JT Leroy number has gone down in flames.
Aside from the accusations that he shopped it as a novel before getting a deal as a memoir, there were also accusations a lot was lifted from "Leaving Las Vegas" by John O'Brien. I hope to read that one soon to see for myself.
Setting aside for the next bookcrossing meetup in Boston I can attend either Feb. or March 2008.
"Leaving Las Vegas" by John O'Brien. Online many folks said Frey lifted passages from O'Brien. I don't know about that, but he definitely robbed him in style and tone and format.
Lesson learned, if you are going to steal, best steal from someone deceased and a bit obscure. I'm not sure why O'Brien's family estate did not make a ruckus but I believe there were some other legal issues they wrangled with regading the song/movie. As for Mr. Frey he sort of pulled a literary "new coke" & then went to recover in Frnace, again if you're going to be publicly embarassed by Oprah, France is a nice place to recover -- before going into book packaging business where he seems to have found a solid niche signing up MFA grads with stars in their eyes. Good luck to him/but I won't be reading anything by him in awhile. Tip of the hat and all that but I think he has some explaining to do (and not to me). Just saying...
