Overall an interesting read. Very different than Secret Life of Bees. Main character falls in love with a monk. You get a story of her life and all the changes she goes through.

Received in the mail today. Thank you so much for agreeing to this trade.
A middle-aged wife returns to her childhood home on Egret Island to care for her mother, who has mysteriously chopped off her finger . While there she analyzes her own stale marriage and tries to find closure for her father's death many years ago. She has a difficult choice to make when she falls in love with a monk at the nearby monastery.
Although this book moved right along and I enjoyed it while reading, I don't think it will leave a lasting impression.

I finished reading this one yesterday and I loved it. I've heard a lot of people say that they really didn't like this book, but to me it was just something that came along at the right time. The story focuses on a middle aged woman who falls in love with a monk. They have an affair that almost ruins her marriage while she is away taking care of her mother. Having just gotten out of a very long relationship, this book really made me think about my own life.
I've been wanting to read this one for awhile now. Thanks!
We know from early in the book that Jessie is restless and not quite content in her empty-nester's life. "I didn't know then what I wanted, but the ache for it was palpable."
I enjoyed this story of a woman returning to her hometown to care for her mentally-deteriorating mother. Along the way, she rediscovers herself in a way that both "damns and saves" her. Even though I've never been married, I could relate to Jessie's character in many ways...wondering what happened to the girl I once was.

In the mail today to ksreader as a RABCK. Enjoy!
Received this book today- thank you!!! It's good to see this one has travelled so well. I've been wanting to read it for quite some time, and will be ready to start it after I finish "One More Sunrise" by Michael Landon Jr. and Tracie Peterson, which my best friend passed along today. (She gave it rave reviews, so I'll have to see!)
WILD RELEASE NOTES:
This was a good story and it's time I passed it on to someone else. I checked with the meetup group, but everybody's read it already. So- I released it today in a massage CHAIR in front of American Eagle as part of WhiteRaven's "Words To Release By" challenge.
