Interview with the Vampire

Gah! Should have read this before watching the film...I hate doing it the other way around as my brain spends half it's time ringing the changes instead of embracing the plot...
Heading for BC'er Flashgirl in Minnesota, USA. Happy reading!
A classic from the undisputed queen of vampire fiction. I salute the imagination that went into creating the believable universe that these unhappy vampires inhabit. But reading this book felt like wading through the foul Louisiana swamp. I found myself rereading entire pages that were hard to follow. (Now is the time for me to admit that this was my third attempt to read this book, and the only time I finished it!) So thanks, lucycat, for providing me this opportunity to finally finish this book!
But why, oh, why didn't I learn from your mistake? I read about half the book before I rented the DVD. I did like the film alot more this time, now that I have read the book. The best part of the DVD: interviews in which the actors were asked if they believe vampires really exist. Antonio Banderas (Armand, see image above) waxes poetic about what vampires symbolize, though of course they don't really exist; Stephen Rhea (Santiago) is more cautious--he seems unnerved by the question, then hems and haws and refuses to say vampires don't exist.

Thanks Flash girl for giving me first dibs at this book. I have seen the movie when it first came out but hopefully it will have been long enough to not interfere with the book. Going on the top of the to be read pile under the book ring and ray books.
