I loved this! The HC was remaindered a year or so after publication. Why? Only when it came out in PB did it finally get a readership. It's one of the most intelligent and truly thrilling supernatural mysteries I've read in DECADES. It gave me the creeps and I actually had a nightmare after reading this. That never happens to me. You learn a lot about African withcraft and its influence on Santeria as well. Lots of anthropological tidbits about shamanism (you'll learn the diff between a witch doctor and true shaman, too). It reminded me of the best of the 1970s Kolchak TV shows. Fans of creepy books will eat this up. There are three books in this series. The last is almost as good as this. Though I know most readers say the 2nd is their fave. I have yet to read that one.

I find the subject, Jane Doe, very interesting and a bit of creative brillance by the author. Have not had the luxury to read but will send it on it's way shortly.
