Journal Entry 2 by cathepsut from Metzingen, Baden-Württemberg Germany on Saturday, December 9, 2006
From the back cover:
"From the deadly lure of a vampire's kiss to a dance with a hideous corpse, this superb selection of stories, modern and classic, will bring a chill to your spine. Classics and unknown gems from over fifty master horror writers explore our worst nightmares and deepest fears."
Authors include: Bram Stoker, Edgar Allen Poe, Edith Wharton, Sheridan Le Fanu, Arthur Conan Dooyle.
"But first on earth, as vampire sent,
Thy corpse shall from its tomb be rent,
Then ghastly haunt thy native place
And suck the blood of all thy race."
A vampiric extract from The Giaour, written by Lord Byron between May and November of 1813. (link to full extract)
I read about half of the book, before I lost interest. The stories aren't bad, but they all feel very musty and antiquated - and I don't mean the classic ones only. I was basically bored, no chills down my spine.
My book #52 in 2006, first published in 1992; 538 pages, of which I only read 250; Total pages for 2006: 17,437.
Going to Alithia for my LifetimeReleaseChallenge.
