The Ghost and Mrs. McClure

I really enjoyed this blend--the cozy bookstore mystery, a ghost story and a 1950s hard-boiled detective tale. I think this combination works well and the characters were interesting enough for me to want to read more from this series. (I don't think the series has more than two or three books yet.) The "crime" wasn't too complicated but the clues were revealed in a manner that keep me interested.
From the back:
Young widow Penelope Thornton-McClure and her old Aunt Sadie are making ends meet by managing a mystery bookshop-a quaint Rhode Island landmark rumored to be haunted. Pen may not believe in ghosts, but she does believe in good publicity-like nabbing Timothy Brennan for a book signing. But soon after the bestselling thriller writer reveals a secret about the store's link to a 1940s murder, he keels over dead-and right in the middle of the store's new Community Events space.

Put on a slow boat to Kiwikat on June 1, 2006. I hope I'm not a ghost by the time it shows up in New Zealand!

Received this in the mail this morning. Since I am going through a 'quick, easy read' phase to speed up creating holes on my bookshelf, this will fit in perfectly. Thanks Alrescate for both the book and lovely butterfly bookmark!!!
I agree that I would also like to read the next in this series just to see what Pen and Jack get up to. This was just the right type light and easy reading I am into at the moment. Will save this one to release during an upcoming trip to North Island, NZ. Thanks again for sending it Alrescate.
