A really sad and wonderful book. I was quite interested in reading this because I read Lucy Grealy's "Autobiography of a Face".

A beautiful and heartbreaking book. An amazing friendship. I'm definitely interested in reading Patchett's other books and "Autobiography of a Face" now.

Thanks KarenZero for sharing! I've PM'd napper for an address and will get this book out as soon as I can.

Oh, I LOVED this book. It was so funny, and sweet, and sad. It made me so grateful for my best friend. The writing was very compelling, and I have ordered my own copy so I can re-read it. I have also recommended it to a bunch of friends!

Thank you SO much for sharing this book. Its on its way tomorrow to Wubbaducky!

I really loved Bel Canto and wasn't sire whether this would disappoint after that but I absolutely loved this book albeit in a completely different way. It was such a beautiful memoir - so funny and so, so sad... I would like to read Autobiography of a Face at some point.

I have Abrokenstarr's addy already so will send this out shortly! Many many thanks for sharing this great book, KarenZero!

Arrived yesterday.

Will try to get to it as soon as possible.

Wow, was it only a week ago this arrived? I was beginning to feel nervous that it was so far down on the TBR pile, so I bumped it a bit. Anyway, I'm now reading it as my 'school' book. At the beginning of every lesson the kids read for ten minutes, and I join them. This seemed like an appropriate book. I didn't realise it was a memoir. I just love Ann Patchett's style.

I'll keep you updated.

I struggled with this one at times. Particularly around the time that I discovered how Lucy Grealy's family felt about the memoir (though I do think the sister takes it a little far).

I'm not sure about it. I read it in snatches at school - we do ten minutes reading at the beginning of each lesson and I read with them, to model what I am telling them to do (it's wonderful!).

I much prefer Patchett's fiction - I didn't realise this was non-fiction when I signed up to it. However, I did read all of it and there were things I will take from it.

Posting to Twicky today. Awfully sorry for the delay.

Hi!

This was supposed to be a bookray. PatchworkPerson, can you send it to the next reader in line when you are done? The next reader is: ajsmom. The original list is posted in a journal entry.
Thanks!
